The British press wrote viciously against the election of Ratinzer
to the post of Pope because of his Nazi past, his German roots
and the memories of the two world wars. The German press was
exuberant because of the election of a German after nearly one
thousand years. The jingoism of the Europe of middle ages, of
nation states, resurfaced.
For others the point of debate were his views: his ultra conservatism,
his anti-woman, anti-condom, anti other religions and even other
non-Catholic Christian denominations. He has been portrayed
as an epitome of rigid puritanical sexual morality of medieval
ages crying in the wilderness of a permissive era of Europe
which Arnold Toynbee had described, as early as 1950, as ex-Christian
Europe. The new Pope reminds people that Europe has Christian
roots and Turkey, a Muslim nation, should not be admitted into
the European Union.

It is known that in the vastly changed social landscape,
woman detests fitting herself into her role as a pure housewife
of a traditional family. But he would insist that woman must
refit herself into that role. Most of the religions of the world
adjust themselves with these fast changing trends but want to
retain their spiritual essence but Ratzinger wants the world
to fit itself into his narrow Catholic framework of thought
and philosophy. Others, his critics from liberal schools, see
his Catholic symphony, as a jarring cacophony, which can only
divide the Catholic world itself and antagonize other religions
which, in his unenlightened view are "insufficient."
That can be the view of a fanatic, a fundamentalist now seated
on the throne of St.Peter as a gigantic Taliban with more than
one billion followers all over the world.
Some features strike the eye at once against the background
of the known facts of the life Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict
XVI. 1) The fifth house has Mars and Rahu in close degrees
giving his known aggressive mind its acerbic reactions.
2) The fifth lord debilitated in the second house is aspected
by the sixth lord of augumentative mental hostility.
3) From Moon, the fifth lord, Saturn retrograde and vargottama
in the house of Mars is aspecting the fifth house, Capricorn,
along with Mars. Mars has such a predominant sway on his mind
joined by Rahu and Saturn. This shows his rigid mental fixations.
In adverse times, such a combination affects the mind and
throat and needs medical treatment also.
4) Venus in his own house as the fourth and the ninth lord
aspected by lagna lord, Saturn from the tenth house is the
head of an institution who will carve out his niche within
the tentacles of papal bureaucracy.
5) Moon in the eighth house but in the dreshkona (drekkana
chart) of Venus saved him from strokes of balarista (illness
as a child) but is that point of danger which can prove fatal
for his health and life particularly because it is aspected
by Mars.
6) But Jupiter's aspect on the tenth house from Moon is that
feeble flutter (of benevolence) he can create in an incorrigibly
immoral world where like anyone else, he has to live and breathe
till death overtakes him.
7) Mutual aspects of Moon Mercury is that absorbing hobby
of his self contemplative skill as a pianist playing Beethoven.
8) See the tenth house from the lagna, with retrograde and
vargottama Saturn in the house of Mars, and Mars, the tenth
lord with Rahu. From Moon, the tenth house has Mars and Rahu
with the aspect of Jupiter and the tenth lord, Mercury debilitated
is in the house of Jupiter. The dreaded, inflexible looking
Pope Benedict XVI will come under the sway of Jupiter also
and concede sometimes to restore faith and sanity.
Ketu Dasha (11/27/05-11/27/12)
But the picture is less rosy. He will soon enter the seventh
dasha of his life, of Ketu, aspected by Mars who in turn also
aspects Moon in the eighth house. And then Ketu-Moon period
is not far off. If he survives it, the end of physical journey
can come by Ketu-Jupiter or even before.
A report of 23 April says
"Today's papal talk, featuring smiles and open arms,
also showed a different facet of his personality, breaking
with his past image as a stern cardinal opposed to modern
lifestyles and to leftist Latin American priests who sought
to overthrow political leaders as part of so-called liberation
theology.
"His job is no longer to be the doctrinal enforcer:
His job is to be the face of Roman Catholicism in the world,
and he wants that face to be optimistic, positive, inclusive"
said John Allen Jr., author of "Conclave" and a
Vatican analyst present at the event."
In the meantime let the brief candle burn with the effulgence
of Christ.

In addition, Saturn is a planet of conservatism and rigidity.
Here Saturn rules the ascendant and is placed in the 10th
house of career, in an enemy sign of Mars. The negative side
of Saturn, like narrow mindedness and fear based authoritarianism,
comes out more in Mars's signs. This increases because it
is retrograde. From here, Saturn aspects Venus, the planet
of the heart, and ruler of the 9th house of religion. This
suggests hard heartedness in general, close mindedness towards
other religions, and a reign of fundamentalist control. Ketu
Moon dasha, which begins Nov 2007, is a particularly life
threatening dasha additionally because the Moon rules the
8th house from the dasha lagna, Ketu.
