Namaste Friends & Jyotish Enthusiasts,
Isn't it interesting how life often shows us extremes at once? The past week I've been thrilled with Barack Obama's rise to the likely democratic nominee position. He's infused real hope in the US (and the world) with his message of positive change. However, in the same week many thousands have died in Myanmar and China from natural disasters. It's heart wrenching.
In my own life, we had the most joyous event in February with the birth of our son, Jai, however, just a few weeks before, my wife's grandfather died at age 92. The same thing happened last year when my father died just two weeks before our wedding in April.
As I get older I've learned to accept the sorrows with the joys with more ease and to see them as inseparable parts of the whole. Just yesterday we woke up to the glorious smell of night blooming Jasmine, but within a few minutes I was removing a dead rat and dealing with the offensive odor. We can't get away from the juxtaposition of opposites.
During the process of preparing for our son's birth I had the most difficult time relaxing and trusting that he would be born at the perfect time. I wanted the baby I wanted and as an astrologer I see how powerful the birth time is to describe one's life. It started to feel like giving birth was like opening a box of chocolates, and Forrest Gump was right, you never know what you're going get.
Recently I wrote an article about this struggle between fear and trust. Click below to read it.
