Hi Explorings,

That's great elaboration by you and thanks for giving us the transition time from Ashtami to Navami.

Here is a way to perform Chandi Homam by oneself, if one can recite Sanskrit properly -

http://www.vedicastrologer.org/homam/ch ... nskrit.pdf

Those who don't feel confident doing this Homam, can recite (not just play the video) of the following mantras -

http://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/ph ... 00#p137539

Note - You can include Kunjika Stotram to this list before Devi Suktam from Rig Veda.

you can recite Durga Gayatri coming in the end of Durga Suktam 108 or 1008 times.

If you can't recite Sanskrit at all, you can play these videos in the above link as described there, along with Kunjika Stotram.

If you have several hours to spare, you can do this -

Explorings, you look good in your new colour! :)

Dear All,

Navaratri is the occasion for worshipping the 9 forms of Durga called Navadurga.

These are the 9 forms, worshipped in that order -

1 - Shailaputri (Parvati)

2 - Brahmacharini (One who grants Moksha)

3 - Chandraghanta (Wearing a bell-shaped moon on her forehead - sound of her bell causes fear amongst the demos).

4 - Kushmanda (The Resplendent One who is the source of the light and energy for the whole Universe)

5 - Skandamata - Mother of Karttikeya, who is the commander of the gods' armies.

6 - Katyayani (The Goddess manifested herself to fight the Mahisha demon)

7 - Kalaratri (or Mahakali - In the war with demons, she acquired dark complexion)

8 - Mahagauri (One who married Shiva)

9 - Siddhidatri (Shiva worshipped her and she granted Siddhis to Shiva. She grants Siddhis to all)

Through the 9 days of Navaratri, the Goddess acquires these 9 forms.

Here is the Navadurga Stotra, which you can recite/play during Ashtami-Navami period, apart from other hymns I suggested earlier -
