Neptune is strong in Leo. It shows talent in the arts.

By the way, for all the statements I made regarding Chiron or the outer planets, if nothing is mentioned about Tropical or Sidereal, then I am referring to Sidereal. But most of them applies to both, like the Neptune in Leo above.

In response to someone asking about reading a chart with strong spiritual bent, I have chosen K N Rao.

A person with a strong spiritual bent must have strong 8th or 12th house, more so the 12th. But these are dusthana places. Therefore there must be something strong in one or two of them, and at the same time the dusthana effect must be completely subdued for the said strong house. Jupiter must be strong in its position, but at the same time be overcoming difficulties successfully. Jupiter aspecting its own house usually shows someone who has control in his spiritual progress.

Here is K N Rao's chart :

http://www.astrosage.com/celebrity-horo ... -chart.asp

Here Venus is ruling 8th sitting on the 1st in its own sign, with Mars ruling 2nd and 7th and Moon ruling 10th, which although contains Jupiter ruling 2 dusthanas, the dusthana effects are successfully overcomed (more about that later). The 8th thus plays a less importance in K N Rao's life. He actually wanted to concentrate on his spiritual progress (12th house - more about that later also) rather than delve into spirituality per se.

Jupiter rules 3rd and 6th and is found in Cancer. Any planet that rules 2 dusthanas and sits in a non-dusthana is to a certain extent cancelling the dusthana effects of the two dusthana houses, but this is less powerful than the case when a planet is exalted and has a Vipareet Raja Yoga. But in Rao's case he has other considerations for his Jupiter.

His Jupiter is dispositing Saturn, a yogakaraka, in the 3rd. And is also dispositing Uranus, ruling the 5th, in the 6th. So the dusthana effects Jupiter is very much sublimated.

Now we come to the crux of the analysis, the 12th house.

Mercury exalted in Virgo is found in the 12th house, together with Sun and Ketu. As I said, if a planet exalted rules a dusthana house, there may be some hamper in progress of the affairs of the house but the person eventually resolve it. In this case his progress in his spirituality is quite smooth because :

(1) Mercury rules the 9th, but the effects of the 9th is weak since Mercury is in its own sign in the 12th.
(2) Sun rules the 11th which denote gains all the way.
(3) Ketu is strong but Mercury makes the decision on how things unfold because it is in its own sign.

In general, his spirituality is 99% perspiration, but he get the gains.

Oh yes, Jupiter is aspecting its own house, the 6th. K N Rao keeps his progress in spirituality in tab.

Chiron ruling the 3rd goes to the 8th giving a Vipareet Raja Yoga.

Yes, Saturn and Uranus, both good functional lords, aspect the 12th.

Let's look at Jack Nicholson's chart :

http://www.astrosage.com/celebrity-horo ... -chart.asp

Jack Nicolson is one of the very few stars who hsve won 3 oscars. And one of the two to have been nominated an oscar every single decade from the 1960s to the 2000s. ; the other being Michael zcaine. But he is more famous than Michael Caine, having won two male lead Oscars plus his acting is always full of panache, but more sentive than Al Pacino, and less of a method actor than either of Robert de Niro or Dustin Hoffman. He is in short, larger than life.

His chart has no Vipareet Raja Yoga but the chart has good dispositorship link chain which squashes the dusthana effects. This usually shows a person who overcome his obstacles by playing by the ear ie. go with the tide.

Like Meryl Streep, his Pluto sits on the Ascending sign of Cancer, ruling the 5th, and Jupiter in Capricorn debilitated aspecting the Ascendant, a Raja Yoga since Jupiter is ruling the dusthana of the 6th. His Chiron, the other planet ruling yhe 6th, goes to the 11th.

His 10th house shows that his life is complicsted; Mercury ruling 2 dusthanas is together with Uranus ruling the 8th. But he manages to pull through because :

1. Mercury disposits the Moon which disposts the 5th lord Pluto. This shows the vital role of the dispositor of the dispositor. Here the role is undertaken by Mercury, the planet that we just talked about.
2. Sun is there with them, the 2nd lord, and Sun disposits Neptune the 9th lord.
3. Venus the 4th and 11th lord give help around the corner from friends.
4. The dispositor of the 10th house is Mars, a yogakaraka, which sits in its own sign in the 5th together with Rahu which accentuates Mars goodness in a good house.

So what are the details of his complication?

The difficulties is shown by Venus ruling the 4th and 11th. Venus is a bhadak for a Cancer Ascendant and is not dispositing any trinal lord and is not ruling any trine but is a ruler of a kendra (unlike Uranus), so the houses ruled by Venus takes centre stage and the obstacles surface blatantly, which he breezily overcome them.

It has to do with his :

1. Parentage ie. the roots (Venus rules 4th) - see Wikipedia for more details.
2. His recent difficulties with the last picture bombed and rumour of his memory loss (4th for conditions in your old age) - see You Tube for the vide. You can just do a general search by Jack Nicholson, and pick the video whose heading is obvious for the matter.

If you watch the vidro, you can see that the social circle he moves in still offer him shows, but he turned them down. (Venus ruling the 11th).

I want to interpret my chart in this thread to show you an important principle involving the Navamsa.

I have a Cancer Ascendant. Neptune ruling 9th is in the 4th. I have an idyllic home life.

Jupiter ruling 6th goes to the 8th in exaltation, a Vipareet Raja Yoga of a high order. It aspects the Sun in the 12th in dusthana which is good. Jupiter rules 9th for father, Sun ruling 2nd goes to the 12th denote spending on spiritual items. My father curbs my spending and expenditure. Anyway, 12th lord Mercury goes to the 11th. Whatever I spend I will earn back.

Jupter's influence on Mercury who is placed 4th from Jupiter is not so good. Jupiter who is undergoing a Vipareet Raja Yoga is aspecting Mercury placed in a non-dusthna, notwithstanding 11th house placement planets generally denote gains as according to scriptures. During my Mercury Jupiter dasa, there are obstacles in reaching my goals in life.

The Navamsa has both Mercury and Jupiter placed in their own signs in the same bhavas, a mutual kendra relationship of the highest order. Pllus Jupiter ruling the 5th goes to the 8th in its own sign is deemed very good by one noted eminent astrologer. Navamsa yogas, aspects and relationships of planets can override the one in Rasi just like placements. Just think. You may have a planet receiving and/or giving many aspects in the Rasi but if the planets stands as a singleton in the Navamsa with not much contacts with other planets, the person may get involve in many activities and affairs ruled by the planet in the Radi, but divinity is not sustaining his momentum. The other way round is that even if the person is involved just one activity of the planet through one aspect or relationship or yoga in the Rasi, but in the Navamsa that same planets has his hand in the pie in many affairs of the individual through the conduit provided by other planets, just that one said activity in the Rasi gets to prosper enormously.

But in my case the good mutual kendra between Mercury and Jupiter in the Navamsa did not seem to help..why? Presumably because the 8th bhava, if its evil effects are not squashed by Vipareet Raja Yoga or by dispositorships or by planetary aspects (this is the descending order in terms of the method of squashing dusthana effects), just a pure yoga occurring with the planet placed in the dusthana like my Mercury and Jupiter in the Navamsa, is not going to result in much mitigating effects. Remember, this applies to planets placed in dusthanas only, whether Navamsa or Rasi although the one occurring in Navamsa has the power to override the one in Rasi, but not in this case.

To continue....

Mercury ruling 3rd and 12th (for 12th it was mentioned and explained earlier) goes to the 11th is good and one stand to gain, but Jupiter offset Mercur's sterling position during both planets'dasas.

Saturn ruling 7th aand 8th, both good houses (8th because of Vipareet Raja Yoga) sits on the 7th retrogading. Saturn thus becoes involved in the affairs of the 6th as if it is placed in the 6th (I use this unofficial Nadi prnciple based on a book written by one Nadi astrologer although K N Rao would say no, the planet is not placed in the 6th but only aspects from the 6th; but when a planet retrogade, it should be moving towards the previous SIGN and the previous BHAVA, so placing it in the previous sign and in the previous bhava should be in order). From there, Saturn exchanges sign with Jupiter. Exchanges involving two dusthanas gives a double Vipareet Raja Yoga, which is unlike most astroligical texts would say it would give double malefic effects. So it is good.

Chiron ruling 6th goes to the 8th, another Vipareet Raja Yoga.

Rahu contacts Venus who does not rule dusthanas and rules the 11th house of gains is good, especially Rahu here is in a trine contacting Venus ruling a kendra gives a Raja Yoga and being aspected by the Yogakaraka Mars. Rahu also acts like the Moon during its dasa.

If you want to consider the secondary effects of Rahu via its rulership, here Rahu rules 8th and 12th, both good houses in this chart, as indicated earlier.

Ketu acts like Saturn during its dasa since it is in Capricorn which is good, and it contacts both Moon and Saturn, both planets having no or no remnents of dustana effects respectively.

Here Ketu rules 5th and 6th. Ketu tends to give stronger 5th house effects because 5th is 12th of 6th meaning 5th alone does not give 6th house effects; but 6th is 2nd to 5th meaning 6th would still give support to the 5th for its effects to grow (just like your family support you). And 5th in turn gives gains to the7th where Ketu is placed with Saturn in its own sign. And 6th only comes into the picture weakly which is good for the 7th because 6th is 12th of 7th. Thus Ketu is also good.

Uranus ruling a good 8th, goes to the 2nd.

Pluto ruling 5th also goes to the 2nd.

So my 2nd has 2 good planets.

Sun ruling 2nd sits on the 12th but is good since it receives an aspect from a good Jupiter in the 8th as already mentioned.

Again the 3H has the Rajyoga. Moon[LL] and Saturn[7L] aspecting each other at 3-9 axis. Jupiter is also aspecting the Moon[ Rajyoga]. Jupiter and Saturn are under sign exchange[Rajyoga] 3L Mercury in 10H , So he has the talent for acting.

To explain my Saturn and Jupiter exchange, after placing Saturn in the previous house (bhava) and sign (Saturn in 6th in Sagittarius and Jupiter in 8th in Aquarius; note that after the exchange Saturn goes to the 8th in Aquarius and Jupiter goes to the 6th in Sagittarius) :

For Saturn - Bringing obstacles to bear on new bad karma (Saturn initially in 6th ruling 8th, a Vipareet Raja Yoga) result in long term survival (Saturm in 8th in own sign).

For Jupiter - Overcoming recent obstacles (Jupiter initially in 8th ruling 6th, a Vipareet Raja Yoga) result in tackling any new bad karma head on (Jupiter in 6th in own sign).

This is another exception when a planet does well in its own sign placed in a dusthana ie. during an exchange between 2 dusthanas.

Note also if my Jupiter had retrogade in the 8th, the Vipareet Rajayoga would come later, although Jupiter in the 7th for a Cancer Acendant is also a Rajayoga for overcoming obstacles.

All retrogade planets give effects of the previous bhava first, before the bhava they are placed in. Retrogade Saturn is the only exception and is the other way round.
