Moon and Mercury - the Crux of All Mental Problems

Post by Khoo Hock Leong » 01 Dec 2018

Hi Learned Members

Much has been said in this forum about the Moon and Mercury being soft planets and giving rise to all kind of afflictions.

Moon is the father of Mercury. Moon is the mind and Mercury is logic. You cannot have good sensible logic unless Moon is strong too although you can have a strong mind with no logic giving rise to stubborness. But in this thread, our basis of discussion is for a weak Moon.

The following Ascendants Moon rules weak houses (which can be offset by Moon being in a strong Nakshatra and not suffering from Kemudrum Yoga, bright, waxing etc. BUT it is still a challenge.

Sagittarius - Moon rules 8th giving rise to fears in calamities and disasters.

Taurus - Moon rules 3rd so the person can be strong headed and stubborn if challenged and lack gentleness and patience generally UNLESS one accede to his wishes. Sleep is not part of the set of main maxims in life.

Aquarius - The person may be prone to heavey outbursts of anger and violence if the Moon is heavily afflicted.

Leo - The person is usually taken advantage of by people close to him. Look at Paul Simon. He writes all the songs for Garfunkel when they were a duo. But Garfunkel tends to speak badly of him even though they are very close friends. They may also have moods.

Virgo represents the negative expression of Mercury like discrimination, analytical ability and intense logic. If planets in it are afflicted, especially Pluto which is Generation Y, and if the person is also one of the above Ascendants, life can be very trying, and the person can also be harping, nit-picking etc. expecting others to be perfect and follow his rules and way of thinking. This is a sign of lack of mental health.

Respected Khoo sir.

I am partly quoting your text here .

I have read a lot that a bad moon can nullify almost all good yogas in a chart because the chartholder would not have the write frame of mind to think and execute things for the good yogas to work.IN one line....

THE RIGHT THOUGHT PROCESS WOULD NOT BETHERE"

You have mentioned here a few points reflecting toward a week moon how can we judge more about status of moon to come to a conclusion.

Eg:- moon saturn Vish yog there is a negative stereotype with this conjunction that it brings only depression ,negitivity, gloomy Outlook etc etc. Mostly negative.
However on the other hand if you put the positives of saturn quality (hardwork ,focus ,preserverance, discipline structure) and mind (moon)with it one can reach great heights with such thought process(moon).

How would one judge the effect of such conjunction i.e will it always have negatives especially with placements in more personal House like 7th or 1st.

This same logic can be applied to other such conjunction such as mo/ke mo/Ra mo/mar.

How does one conclude on its outcome being positive or negative.

Thanks

hari766 and Agog

To strengthen Moon, wearing pearls is a GREAT asset. A weak Moon not only depresses life, it also shortens life. A good quality pearl, white or red, can actually overcome two of these afflictions. Olivia de Hallivand is the cuurent oldest living actress at 102. She wears pearls a lot.

Choose a variety of pearls - freshwater, South Sea and akoya - to get the range of spiritual energies.

A horse image made of white marble or silver placed in the north-west portion of the house also helps. Wind chimes 5 in number made of brass used in the same direction near a window so that air comes in to sound the chime, can bring in the right mix of Jupiterian-Mercury influence in the portion of the house ruled by the Moon. (Moon-Jupiter-Mercury contact in a chart three-way gives spiralling prosperity without any other afflictions).

According to Raj Kumar, if there is a Moon-Saturn conjunction in one's chart, if it is not too heavily afflicted (how? Like Saturn in its own sign; it is a kendra, trikone Raj Yoga combination; it is a Jaimini yoga involving 2 chara karakas etc.; Moon in a nakshatra of Mars which is a Yogakaraka; Ketu energising the combination when eithe Moon or Saturn is in its own sign; Moon with Ketu whatever also helps as both of these have opposite exaltation-debilitation signs), everytime Jupiter or Saturn transits over it, a shower of benefits occur.

Those with Moon Saturn combination in Capricorn are then in for a real treat. BOTH Jupiter and Saturn would be transitting in Capricorn in late 2020.

Moon is also holy and is at home in the 9th. 9th is the 5th of the 5th of mantras. This means 9th covers mantras which have a direct bearing on our existence. Chanting AUM for a few minutes everyday would help the Moon.

No, it is strong since Moon is exalted and with Jupiter it becomes a Gajakesari Yoga literally meanthe Yoga for the Elephant.

Also note : generally exaltation is very good, but Moon in Cancer is even better base on Raj Kumar, the famed adtrologer as it gives the initiation of things. I has also given several of my own reasons in an earlier post like most wealth yogas omitt Moon in Taurus. Even the Kumbha Mela (mass ritual cleansing in the Ganges River when Jupiter transits to Aquarius can be taken as Moon in Cancer base on Brihat Jataka - transit effects are timing of events unlike natal horoscopy which Brihat Jataka is talking of but their way of grading good or bad placemrnts is the same). But Moon in Taurus can be considered next in line in terms of goodness.

Here 1st is where Jupiter is digbala which means king. Moon in 1st is generally not well received by scriptures but Moon in Taurus is an exception and this is the only exception which the scriptures talk about.

So base on the above reasons, the planetary pattern you mention is considered good, with the overriding factor being Moon having a relationship (here it is association meaning conjunction, other relationships would be Moon in a kendra to Jupiter, with Jupiter being 4th to Moon being the best as Jupiter is life and 4th to Moon is fulfillment) with Jupiter in a good house (ie. the overriding factor).

Thank you for your explaination.

Can i check with you does moon and jupiter in lagna considered to be jupiter in kendra from moon? As according to my knowledge in kendra means (1,4,7,10)

As i wanted to verify with you.....is this definition true?

From online source

Akhanda Samrajya yoga is caused when a strong Jupiter owning the 2nd, the 5th or the 11th house from the Lagna associates with the Lagna and the Moon and simultaneously the lord of the 2nd, the 10th or the 11th occupies a kendra from the Lagna and the Natal Moon.[5] Thus, there are the following four pre-requisites for its formation:-

At the time of birth a fixed sign as per Sidereal astrology must rise in the Lagna

Jupiter must own either the 5th or the 11th bhava (house)

A strong Jupiter owning the 2nd, the 5th or the 11th bhava must associate with the Lagna and the Natal Moon

At the same time the lord of the 2nd, the 10th OR the 11th bhava must occupy a Kendra (square-house) from the Lagna and the Natal Moon.

According to this definition? I have owning the 11th bhava associating with lagna and moon by conjunction.

Lord of 11th occupy a kendra house from lagna and moon.

Please kindly advise.

Thank yoj for yohr time
