Ganesha Should Be Prayed First Even for Seeking Shiva or Vishnu help?

Post by Khoo Hock Leong » Mon May 15, 2017 9:37 pm

Hi Learned Members

We know that Ganesha need to be prayed before seeking the help of the other Gods. But does that cover Shiva and Vishnu? After all Shiva is Ganesha's father and it was he who grant Ganesha the boon. And Vishnu is the mighty God, his highest is synonymous with Krishna.

In short, the answer is Yes.

Ganesha represents Vedic Astrology, Ketu. Before a Vedic Astrologer starts he work, he propitiates :

(1) Ganesha

(2) Guru - Dakshinamurthy (Shiva) - for accelarated knowledge

Only then we look into the planets to see whether to get Vishnu, Shiva or any other deva's help.

In Vedic culture, the God usually grant a boon to a person or a deva (like Ganesha) with a ubiquitous principles, covering no exception for himself usually, and in Shiva it is especially the case as Shiva works on the principle of asceticism, meaning regardless of the individual race, gender or spiritual inclination. As long as the individual has done his required penance for a certain objective, the boon would usually cover for all situations, exceptions only given if the God explicitly say so at the time the boon is given (even Shiva or Vishnu or Brahma or any deva granting the boon).

Best Regards
Khoo
